It is not the easiest of jobs. That would be OK if the franchise that has made the playoffs each of the last 10 seasons were filled with talent, instead of the present situation that’s rather conducive to the dreaded”t” word.
Dennis Schroder is certainly part of this mix, in addition to newly acquired big man Dewayne Dedmon. But who else? Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince and Ersan Ilyasova? Can Marco Belinelli or Luke Babbitt maintain the mix if they can keep shooting as they did with the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, respectively? Are we prepared to throw John Collins into the equation?
This Atlanta roster might have some upside, but it’s almost completely devoid of established talent. The leading pieces have question marks, since Schroder has not served as the unquestioned leader of a team, Dedmon has yet to play over 17.5 minutes per game and Bazemore is coming off a disappointing campaign.
Talent wins out from the NBA, along with the Hawks don’t have enough of itor sufficient motivation to avoid the base of the Eastern Conference–to shove the 26 wins necessary for the over bet.
